Carmen and Leticia

Edward Campbell CVLS Volunteer

Leticia wanted to care for her ailing 78-year old mother Carmen, while other family members just wanted her property and social security.

A Catholic Charities caseworker supported Leticia when a nephew sought guardianship but had no care plan and admitted to standing in for his ex-felon uncle.

Leticia almost gave-up until she got an attorney. Once she had representation she refused to be intimidated.

She pursued her case and CVLS volunteer Edward Campbell made it clear that his client was willing and able to fight to protect Carmen.

The key to Leticia's successful result - full guardianship - was the ability to assert her rights and be heard because she had an attorney to fight for her in court.
